A nature-based approach to supporting your health
What Sylvo Simplicity Is
I offer guided, nature-based practices for people seeking a quieter way to reset and reconnect. Sessions focus on slowing down, grounding, and gentle self-reflection through time in natural environments. Sylvotherapy is open to anyone curious about rest, presence, and a deeper connection with nature.
What Sylvo Simplicity Is Not
Sylvo Simplicity is not clinical therapy, psychotherapy, or mental health treatment. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care, and it is not intended for crisis support. The practice is non-medical and complementary, offering supportive experiences rather than fixes or guarantees.
Sylvotherapy takes place in natural, outdoor settings, at an unhurried pace. We may walk, sit, or remain still. Gentle guidance may be offered to support grounding, awareness, or quiet reflection, but you are never required to talk, analyze, or revisit personal history. The emphasis is on direct experience rather than discussion.
When you arrive, the pace slows. There is nothing special you need to prepare and no expectation to perform, share deeply, or arrive at a particular insight. The experience unfolds with gentle intention — unhurried and respectful of boundaries.
The session is held within a generous span of time — usually about four hours — so there is no need to rush toward an ending. Our time will conclude with a simple tea ceremony using plants gathered during the session. This offers a moment of rest and integration before closing — a calm transition back into the day. There is no assigned follow-up or obligation afterward.
I came to sylvotherapy through time spent in the forest while harvesting wood for craft projects. I noticed a consistent and inviting sense of calm that I didn’t experience elsewhere, having lived much of my life drawn to high-risk pursuits like skateboarding, snowboarding, cliff diving, and even professional wrestling.
Curious about that contrast, I began learning more about the relationship between time in nature and nervous system regulation, which led me to formal training in sylvotherapy. I completed my certification as a Sylvotherapy Practitioner in January 2026 and created Sylvo Simplicity as a grounded, non-clinical way to share this practice with others.

Sylvotherapy enhances well-being by reconnecting individuals with nature, particularly forests. Rooted in the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, it involves mindful immersion in natural environments to reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and enhance physical health.
Sylvotherapy is not a medical treatment, however, it is increasingly recognized as a preventative, science-backed wellness practice.
Sylvotherapy differs from conventional therapies by focusing on non-invasive, nature-based healing through intentional, mindful immersion in forests or natural environments. Unlike traditional psychotherapy or medical treatments, it emphasizes sensory engagement—sight, sound, smell, touch, and presence—rather than verbal processing or pharmaceutical intervention.
The term "therapy" in sylvotherapy is used broadly to describe any practice that promotes healing and well-being through nature, even without formal clinical diagnosis or treatment.
Mental & Emotional Benefits: Scientific studies confirm sylvotherapy reduces anxiety, depression, anger, and stress by lowering cortisol levels and boosting neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.
Physical Health Improvements: It strengthens the immune system by increasing natural killer (NK) cell activity, helps regulate blood pressure and blood glucose levels, and supports respiratory and cardiovascular health.
Sensory & Cognitive Engagement: The practice encourages using all senses—listening to birdsong, feeling tree bark, breathing in phytoncides (aromatic compounds from trees)—to foster mindfulness, creativity, and mental restoration.
Accessible & Inclusive: Can be practiced in urban parks or forests, requiring no special equipment. It’s suitable for all ages and lifestyles, including those seeking relaxation, recovery, or preventive wellness.
That's entirely up to you! Nothing is ever forced in Sylvotherapy.
